Jan. 29 - Feb. 12, 2012 : Do Something Now| CLC partners with Samaritan's Feet!

Each year, CLC sends a team of middle school students to our nation's capitol to serve the City and serve those that are being Jesus in Washington D.C. every day. This year, the Team will be serving Samaritan's Feet through praying with, washing feet, and putting shoes on children.

Samaritan's Feet is not just a non-profit, nor just a humanitarian aid organization – but a community of more than 70,000 volunteers who have joined together to make a difference in the lives of children in need in every corner of the world. From a dream to the reality of nearly 3,000,000 impoverished children in over 40 nations being served by having their feet washed, receiving a new pair of shoes, and hearing a message of hope.

This is an opportunity for not just the middle school team but for us, as a Church to partner with Samaritan's Feet.

A Few Details...

How? We will be collecting NEW shoes from January 29th through February 12th.

Where do I drop them off? There will be a shoe-drop in the glass foyer by the Front-Entrance.

What do the shoes have to be like? We take tennis shoes, sneakers, and gym shoes. They have to be new, never worn. We do ask primarily for children's shoes but we all know that some kids wear adult size shoes. We are also taking new socks as we give out socks with each pair of shoes.

The reason we only take new shoes is because our shoes can end up anywhere in the world. Places where bacteria treatable in the United States can result in amputation or death in under-developed countries.

More information? Check out the Samaritan's Feet website for more information by clicking here.

Feb. 01 - 26, 2012 : Do Something Now| Hope for Haiti.

While CLC is sending a team of 10 people to Haiti from March 3rd through 10th to represent CLC, this is your opportunity Church to go to Haiti with the Team. Lets be a generous Church.

Instead of collecting one item as a whole-Church, each ministry is taking on a different item to send with the Team. This is each ministry's opportunity to make an impact and to do something now.

One of the many things that the team will do while in Haiti is going to the hospitals, praying for people and giving out packets of toiletries. Many of the hospitals do not even give their patients toilet paper.

A Few Details...

What is everyone collecting? CLC Kids is collecting hard candy for the packets of toiletries (something a little extra and fun). Generation Church will be collecting deodorant. LifeGroups will be collecting toothpaste and toothbrushes. The women will be collecting feminine products at the Ladies’ Breakfast on January 28th. The men will be collecting tools for Wings of Refuge Children's Home at the Men's Breakfast on February 18th.

What is the goal? The goal for each ministry is to fill a suitcase.

Where do I bring my items? Bring them to CLC Kids, to GC, to your LifeGroup, or to the Ladies’ and Men’s Breakfasts. They will then be brought to the CLC Circular Hallway to fill the suitcases.

Questions? Contact Holly Aman at hollyaman@ymail.com or anyone on the College Haiti Mission Team.

February 12 : LifeTRAKS| Believe

The Believe LifeTRAK is strategically designed to assist and encourage you with your new life in Christ. Your decision to follow Christ is the most important decision you will ever make. Building this relationship on the proper foundation will determine the health of your relationship with God as well as determine the health of your life overall. We take your spiritual life development seriously. Nothing is more important than your life being firmly built on the rock foundation of Jesus Christ and His Word.

We are convinced that every person should become a fully devoted follower of Christ who is passionate about extending the kingdom of God. Your decision to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior must reach far beyond your initial prayer to a life-long commitment of living wholeheartedly for Him.

The church is successful when all believers are true followers of Christ. The passage of scripture that sets the goal for the product Christ is seeking is in Acts 2:42-45, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.” The only way we will see a church like this is if every individual is fully devoted to Christ and His plan. That plan involves every person growing to spiritual maturity. It involves people who live as fully devoted followers of Christ. This track will help inspire you to grow to full maturity in Christ.

The Apostle Paul gives the strategy for this to happen in Ephesians 4:15-16, “But, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head – Christ – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” We are to grow up in all things. This LifeTrack will help the believer to stimulate a growth attitude and practice growth principles.

A few details...

When? It takes place on the five Sunday mornings from February 20th through March 20th during the message at the Sunday morning service.

Where? The Conference Room.

How much does it cost? It is free!

What do I need to do if I want to go? Register and be there!

Feb. 17 - 19, 2012 : GC| Middle School Mission Trip.

Every year we strive to give Generation Church Middle School Students the opportunity to serve the Kingdom of God in a different context than Williamsburg. Over the past few years, we have started a tradition of heading to Washington D.C. to serve Jesus and His Church. We will be partnering with The City Church, The District Church, Samaritan’s Feet, and a few other organizations along the way that are giving themselves everyday to seeing the Kingdom of God become a reality in our nation’s capitol. This mission trip is an excellent way to spend your weekend away from Williamsburg learning how to minister to a different culture and in a different context.

Here are a few details:

Leave Friday, February 17th and return Sunday, February 19th.

Approximately $50.

Application due Sunday, December 4th.

We are looking for a group of students who would like to head to D.C. for the weekend to minister, encourage, and learn a little about urban ministry. Not only is this an opportunity for you to impact others, but you too will be changed along the way! What are the requirements in order to go? You must be involved in a GC Group, be in middle school, and be serving in some capacity here at CLC, already, in order to go. There will be a few required training and prayer meetings before the actual trip.

The cost has been estimated at $50 per person, (your transportation, meals & two nights in D.C.). You’ll only need extra money for any spending cash you want. Something to think about as you are looking at the cost: if the Lord wants you to go and you’re diligent in preparation, God will make a way. Have faith! That’s part of the experience!

If you want to join the team; if you’re ready to make a learn and to pour out; if you’re ready to share the love of Jesus with everyone you come into contact with, and to serve your guts out - pray about becoming a member of this year’s Middle School Mission Team, contact Ashley Loveless to get an application.
