Every year we strive to give Generation Church High School Students the opportunity to serve the Kingdom of God in a different context than Williamsburg. While they get to serve Washington D.C. in middle school, we like to give them a different opportunity in high school. We look for this opportunity to be one that enables students to taste many different kinds of ministry. For example, last year we served New York City with New York School of Urban Ministry and did everything from serving the homeless, playing with kids in a family shelter, singing on subways, and praying for the City. This year, we are heading in the opposite direction to serve the streets of Atlanta, Georgia (or perhaps, better known as the home of Chick-fil-A)! We will be partnering with The DOOR (Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection), an organization that connects the Church and the City. You can find out more about The DOOR at http://www.doornetwork.org/. This mission trip is an excellent way to spend your spring break away from Williamsburg and learn how to minister to a different culture and in a different context.
Here are a few details:
Leave Saturday, March 31st & return Saturday, April 7th.
We are looking for a group of students who would like to head to Atlanta, Georgia for the week to minister, encourage, and learn a little about urban ministry. Not only is this an opportunity for you to impact others, but you too will be changed along the way! What are the requirements in order to go? You must be involved in a GC Group, be in high school, and be serving in some capacity here at CLC already, in order to go. There will be a few required training and prayer meetings before the actual trip.
